Hi, my name is Michael Robert. I was named after both of my grandpas. My birthday is October 11, 2005. I love spending time outside. I am a missionary to Papua New Guinea with my mommy, daddy & baby brother Daniel. Here are a few of the many adventures I have been on and just a glimpse of me growing up in "the land of the unexpected." I hope you enjoy my pictures.

 July 2007

This sink is just the right size! Actually now mommy and daddy fill up a rubbermaid container for me to play in. I bet they wish there was one big enough for them.

  June 2007

We got to visit some of Grandpa and Grandma Damaske's friends in the East Highlands region. That was a lot of fun. Puppy and I looked out the window to watch the cows when they came up. Daddy says I'll get to see more cows when I go to Grandpa and Grandma Lenz's house.

Half-time! After running hard and playing with the ball, it's time for a break. I think that once I catch my second wind I'll have the game "in the bag"!

I love driving the tractor! Maybe if I practice up Grandpa will let me drive for real when I go back to the US. Daddy let me help him drive the car the other day. It's a bit tricky because you have to drive on the other side of the road. But it is pretty safe driving on base as we were the only car around.

This is Cocoa. He lives on our base. Sometimes Daddy will take me to go see him. He's a nice dog. Every time I hear a dog bark I think it's Cocoa so I start calling out his name! He wanted to play frisbee, but Daddy didn't want a bunch of holes in the frisbe. That's no fun!

   February 2007

Happy Valentines Day! Take some time to smell the roses, I sure enjoy it.

This is my poro (friend) Elvis. He's my neighbor too. When I go to his house I take some wooden cars to play with. We have fun driving them around the village and up the side of the house.

   January 2007

Anyone thirsty? Nothing beats a nice fresh Kulau (green coconut).  Sometimes we'll drink one if we go to the market or to the village. They're really good if you put them in the fridge for a day! Occasionally the fuzzy outside will tickle my chin and I'll make funny faces. This really makes the Papua New Guinea people laugh.

This is my friend Kristi. She lives in the village right next door. We like to play when Mommy and Daddy go and visit.

Ahhh, I could get used to this! I enjoy playing in the sand, splashing in the waves, and throwing my toys in the water so that Daddy and Mommy have to chase them down!

   December 2006
Yeah! We're finally in Papua New Guinea. It is very very hot
here. I already love it. Look at my new friend I made at the airport in Port Moresby, the capital city of Papua New Guinea. She liked my toys and I liked showing her how to use them. Her mommy kept giggling at me. I think she liked my curly hair. I got to share some of my airplane snacks with them. I look forward to making many new friends.

Our last week in the US we got to spend special times with my Uncle Jason and Grammie and Papa Damaske. I had lots of fun with my Uncle Jason, he's big and strong! Mommy says that I'm a big boy too!

This is a picture of me and my Uncle Jason at the airport in Detroit, Michigan on December 29.

    November 2006

It's time to go! Mommy and Daddy say it's time to pack for our long trip. We'll be leaving soon for Papua New Guinea! I can't wait to make new friends there.

     Can you see me?
Mommy says I'm wearing camouflage. I'll give you a hint...I'm hiding in front of the BIG pine tree with my Daddy, Uncle Jason, and Papa Damaske.

Unki Caleb, Daddy, and Papa Lenz

Mom and Ms. Jamie took me to the park in Missouri and I got to feed the ducks and geese. They'll take the food right out of your hands.

  October 2006

I like to read. Mommy and Daddy usually read to me when I wake up and just before I go to bed. Sometimes I read to my friends too!

   October 2006
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
I am one now. My friends from church came over to help celebrate. I had birthday cake at Grammie's too, and got really messy!

   September 2006

Like my horsey? I'm just learning how to ride. My horsey's a bit green still so I have to break him in. He's only bucked me off once though! I think I'm doing pretty good.

     August 2006

I went with Mommy and Daddy to celebrate their 4th anniversary! I got to play in Lake Huron (left) and see the Mackinac Bridge.

I also got to play in Lake Superior (bottom right) and
Lake Michigan (bottom left). I did all this in three days!

   July 2006

Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me 'cause I'm the 'munchkin' man. I'm also learning how to walk too. Keep checking back and maybe you'll catch a glimpse of me strutting my stuff.

    July 2006
Sometimes on our road trips Dad will let me drive.
This is me driving Uncle Jason's truck on one of our trips to Missouri. Pretty cool huh?! In a few years I might even be able to reach the pedals.

    June 2006

After a long drive I like to clear my head by enjoying the outdoors. It is so beautiful in Virginia. We got to spend a whole week at a camp with lots of bigger kids!  I had so much fun!

   April 2006

I love playing outside. When it rains, I like to look out the window. One of these days I'll be old enough to play in the rain.

   March 2006

When we travel, I get to meet a lot of doggies! I love playing with them. They're so much fun, until they start licking my face. Some of them even share their toys with me. See Chester's toy tire he gave me to play with?
